After another week of coaching clients to make positive change in their lives and business, I am once again reminded of the huge importance of mindset. Even though a huge part of what I do is teaching marketing techniques and helping my clients grow their business, a lot of our coaching time is spent on mindset issues rather than working on practical strategies. The reason for this is that without the positive focus and desire, as well as the belief that success is possible for them, people are unable to do the practical day-to-day tasks necessary to achieve.
In a world filled with negativity, over-dramatized news, talk of recession etc. it takes a strong person to stay focused on what they want to achieve and not to be “pulled back into the bucket by the rest of the crabs”. It’s for this reason that it’s really important to spend time every single morning setting yourself up for the day. It’s crucial to spend time visualizing how the day ahead is going to bring you closer to achieving the life you want, and how you need to be resolute in maintaining the belief that it’s possible.
Many people would challenge my point of view, and might say that taking action is more important than mindset, but without the proper mindset those actions are never really set in motion. I see it over and over again with clients. Many of them often tell me that the main benefit they get from coaching isn’t so much the technical knowledge of how to improve their business…it’s the boost that they get from me reinforcing their belief in themselves each week. I know that they have everything it takes to achieve their goals inside them.
Taking action without having the right mindset is like putting up a sail when there’s no wind…it’s pointless. Tony Robbins explains the power of shifting your focus in this video…
